[Highlight] Nikola Jokic buries a catch-and-shoot triple, shooting 47% from deep this season
If he didn’t take those half court heaves, he’d still be over 50.
Can’t be calling it small sample size anymore, the dude has become a serious threat from deep.
76⁄160 from 3 this season, so he’s 8 less misses from 50%, which is probably close to the number of heaves he has.
It’s not that it’s a small sample size, but he is streaky. His championship run he out shot Steph Curry from deep, p sure last postseason he was under 30%. Obviously he has leveled up, it’s just a question of how much will be fall back to Earth in the playoffs. The timeline where Jokic continues to make most of his 3s and the Nuggets steamroll the league is a fun one, I just don’t find it terribly likely
It’s worth taking into consideration that he played pretty much all last season with an injured wrist
That’s a good point. But it seems to be a reoccurring injury, so it could flair up at any point. Hopefully the rest hes getting will help with that
There’s been a story floating around that he changed some of his shooting mechanics after the Olympics. Obviously those stories come up all the time, and it remains to be seen how much it sticks, but between that and the wrist injury last year, I think there’s some reason to be confident he’ll stay hot. Maybe not ‘2nd in the league’ hot, but still.
Even if he ends up at 45%, he’s the MVP. His stats are just absolutely bonkers, actual video game numbers.
His 3pt shooting contributes the least of all his stats to his MVP convo, he’s just amazing at everything on offense
What is he doing differently now compared to before? His shot pretty much looks the same except he’s following through more.
He was dealing with a wrist injury for a while
Crazy cause he was still efficient before
I thought I read somewhere that him and our shooting coach ironed out a smoother shot after he realized it needed fixed post Olympics.
They did. It was something about him starting his shot higher and not bringing the ball down as far. It was something to keep his arms from tiring at the end of games.
it’s so he’s using his legs less when theyre tired https://archive.is/pIXPf
they worked on higher release in the offseason, to make sure he can still shoot when his legs are tired https://archive.is/pIXPf
Good thing Reggie is there to double Gordon off ball.
imagine Jokic in the 90s/2000s
