The Lakers did make an all in move when they traded for AD and they ended up winning a championship. They just made some other big moves after that happened that backfired spectacularly. But the point still stands that the only reason they are a middling team rn is because they made big moves.

The real gamble was that the Jazz thought there was no way Mitchell was going to stay in Cleveland when they traded him there.

Now that he’s re-signed last summer, they need to try and flip those picks for better value.

The reality was that they were always going to do some type of consolidation move with all their picks. You can really only have so many young players on a team before they end up hurting each other.

Too many picks to actually use them all, gave up 3 low end picks for 1 that could be incredible with 0 protections.

That Suns pick is very Juicy. That team should theoretically be pretty awful by then. We’ll see.

You are trading 3 late firsts for a future first that has a good chance at being a lottery pick. The three picks are likely not going to be anything more than rotational players.

Because we have a billion first round picks. We need to trim them down and upgrade them, since there’s no way in hell we’re spending them all. We can field a starting line-up of rookies and sophomores, and we still had 13 First round picks over 7 years.

Beal is not still good and is on the worst contract in the league. 50+mil with a NTC for two more years is comically bad. He also can’t play make, is a small undersized defender, and is literally worthless if his shots aren’t falling. You are massively underestimating how much of a negative asset Beal is at this point in time. Jimmy is 35 but was having a solid season before he started pouting.

There is literally zero chance Miami would take on Beals contract without some sort of asset coming from somewhere.

Beal is hardly the model of health, and is on a terrible contract, even if Miami really wanted him I can’t imagine they’ll give up a pick for it.
