Steph Curry on the process of trying to defend a title:
About 96% of this sub needs to see this post.
They see it but they’ll call Steph Curry a twink and too small and say that this is weak mentality
I don’t think he’s weak mentally.
He’s not. The guy you’re responding to is making fun of people who lose their minds over a couple of losses
The only loss this season where it felt like maybe there was something wrong was the Toronto loss last Wednesday and then it immediately went away after beating Orlando Friday.
There has not been a single other time this season that people should have felt like the sky was falling
He’s making a joke that he thinks he’s a twink and too small.
He is a cute twink
Steph may be a lil twink, but he’s not wrong 😂
Fuck 30, kehd
this needs to be seen by way more ppl!!
Agreed. Plus, it’s not unreasonable that it’s taking some time for Porzingis to get his legs and rhythm back and mesh with his teammates. He’s coming back from an injury and hadn’t played in months. They’ll be fine. And I trust Mazzulla more after last year. Queta has had some rough stretches, but he’s learning and growing and won’t make those mistakes come playoff time. This organization develops players well. Look at Kornet, Houser, and Pritchard. So it’s part of the plan.
Queta is a freak athlete and has potential but I do not trust him in the playoffs. Al is getting old and KP is an injury waiting to happen. Kornet is decent but slow and not good enough and Tillman is mediocre and barely getting playing time. If they’re all healthy and rested and playing well it’s great but a lot of small things could go wrong and the depth seems thin to me.
It’s center by committee and, more importantly, matches. As far as KP goes, I don’t disagree but injuries impact every team. No guarantees for any player. The entire point of Queta getting run now is so that he’s ready for the playoffs. Al is still very effective in limited minutes. You must not be watching Kornet. Tillman can give you a few minutes here or there, but that’s all that is asked of him. Two years ago Hauser was unplayable in the playoffs and Pritchard was struggling. Hauser made important contributions in the playoffs last year, as did Pritchard. And that’s all they needed them to do. Their shots are respected and spacing is better. And Pritchard’s all-around game has taken a huge leap. They’ll be fine.
We shouldnt have to trust him though. We will need like 4 games where he comes in and gives us 5 minutes without fucking up and makes like 3 plays then we get him out.
Yep
Why? Who gives a shit what the warriors think?
I think respect for Steph Curry and the fact that he is the a big part of the last team to repeat as champions. Gives us reason to respect his opinion and listen to what he has to say. I hate the Warriors and Steve Kerr, but Curry is a class act.
I mean GS offense is a huge influence on the celtics model of “huck threes until they land”. Its goofy to think Steph isnt shit. GS and Steph changed the landscape of NBA offense. The celtics wouldnt have built the team they have now if not for the success GS had. Whether or not people like them or the coach. The team Golden State built and the way they approached offense has changed the NBA. Steph knows about winning, and winning consistently over time. Give the man his roses. Liking him or not doesn’t change his credentials. (The argument of current offensive trends hurting basketballs appeal and dwindling viewership and interest in the game not withstanding.)
Feel like Steph might know what a title defense season is like.
Idk maybe because Steph and the warriors have won titles including back to back ones
Hmm its almost like he understands the process of trying to win b2b titles
curry’s a legend
Don’t care. Fuck the warriors.
You are aware curry is the last player to have won back to back and was the main part of why they did, his opinion is not wrong, he knows about winning back to back and that you won’t be the same team. In 2017 the warriors were 67 wins in 2018 they were 58 wins. And still won. We expect this team to be playing perfect that’s not how it works
Durant was the main part. Don’t let the cupcake allegations make you forget that.
Both were a very important part of why. My point is curry is right, he knows what it takes to win back to back
But my point is it’s easier when you have a top 5 scorer by your side. Curry is one of the smartest players of all time, he knows stuff.
Of course it is, but he still isn’t wrong on when he says he doesn’t know they expect.
The NBA
Seriously. We are 3rd in the nba after having a variety of injuries and guys out etc. not gonna say we have played our best every night but it’s too early to be panicking.
Were playing the worse we have in maybe 2.5 years and we’re still at a 57 win pace.
Were good
We’re not playing the worst we have. We’re dropping games here and there but our net rating over this “worst stretch” is like 3rd in the league. We’re fine.
Net rating a little skewed by having 3 40 point wins despite going 6-4
I mean that’s my point. Our record has been mid but the team is still playing well and has the potential to win big. We will be completely fine. Not remotely the worst stretch for this team
That’s how net rating works though. You aren’t going to win every game by a solid 8. You lose some, you win some big ones, they all count.
That’s just how the stat works, this is kind of like saying a 50 point game “skews” your season points average.
And tactical resting. Which, IMO is super important. As long as the guys hit the 66 games so they can win awards.
We’ve been seriously underperforming over the last month, but our ceiling is still the highest in the league. Come playoff time, this team can still be better than last year’s
Our ceiling may still be the highest in the league but if enough age, injury, or fatigue issues are present in the playoffs, the floor can drop
I mean this was the sub panicking in the finals after wins when they were less than 20 pts
Thank you Steph. Come join us for one more
Curry on the celtics off the bench is amazing
Nahh off the bench is disrespectful
He’d be the perfect backup for Pritchard
Curry is just Pritchard at home
underrated comment
imagine battling the celtics starting 5 to a standstill for the first 9 minutes of the game then Steph and Prichard check in and just start raining threes on your head.
what did you do to the game i love?!
Bro his jersey alone would keep the Celtics local . Plus his a huge Red Sox fan

Is he actually a huge Sox fan or is he just wearing the hat to take a pic with Papi? Genuine question!
least delusion celtics fan, letsgooo
Umm… No… he’s an opp. Wtf is wrong with you people?
He not an opp if he’s wearing a green 30 bozo
He’s an opp. Stop being soft and dick riding players that hate Boston.
Lol you probably same dude who bitches about our own players
And you’re probably one of those pick me fans that shit on their own team on r/nba so other fan bases will like you and then come on here and cry when people rightfully criticize the team when they play like shit.
Bruh youre reddit account like a month old, all you do is celtics post. And theres alottttt of downvoted bad takes in that history. Its pro sports, shits pretty casual. For most normal people with jobs and families this shit is entertainment. Trying to say Steph Curry is a clown when hes got 4 chips is a bit goofy. Considering the Celtics are the most winning franchise a “true fan” should have a bit more class, and give the man credit where its due. Golden States offense changed the game, denying that is ignorant. If youre such a staunch Celtics fan, than act like youve seen some banners before. You out here acting like youve never seen the Duck Boats. Probably live in Rhode Island or New Hampshire lmfao.
My real account got perma banned and started a new one. What’s your point?
Also was born in Boston and live in Maine. Don’t put me on that bandwagon shit. I’m from here. Tell that to all the interstate Curry and warriors glazers.
Nah I ain’t a fan just after wins
You ain’t a fan, you’re a casual.
Curry doesn’t hate Boston lmao.
Yes he does.
Exactly. It’s the new gen. They don’t understand rivalries.
Ngl. I’m new gen but I hate how much the fan base dick rides our rivals. Cringe af.
Well it’s not all of the new gen. Lol. Not what Boston is about. They don’t know.
They care too much what other fan bases think of them, so they try to suck up to their teams and and act nice. Meanwhile these fan bases never reciprocate the same energy. They’re embarrassing and soft.
Both of you rn
Curry to you guys.
i’m not worried about the team. i think they can get it together. i’m just not interested in watching this mostly bad brand of basketball as they’re struggling. i have more productive things to do than be annoyed while watching a full basketball game 50% of the time. they’ll turn it back up later in the season and run off another good win streak
30-13 is a good record, no doubt. But about half of those losses are against bad teams who we had no reason losing to. Thats where the frustration stems from and that frustration is justified
To be fair, if most of our loses are from bad teams then we’re actually doing incredibly well because that means we beat good teams
What type of logic is that? Lmao. You should be able to beat inferior teams. Is it ok to have one or two hiccups? Absolutely. But we’ve have more than just hiccups against bad teams
You’d rather our 13 loses be against good teams? Then the narrative is they can beat weak competition but aren’t hanging with the other top teams. Id much rather beat good teams and coast, than try every night beating scrubs but can’t seem to beat good teams.
It’s obvious the Celtics are coasting. They tend to get up for big games. It’s annoying, but if we are worried, then saying their loses are mostly from bad teams is actually a reassuring thing. Logic is sound— I never said they can’t beat worse teams.
Let’s just hope we don’t face any bad teams in the playoffs.
Oh no, all of the teams they faced last year in the playoffs were bad teams!!
Right. Steph is partially correct, but people will use statements like this to hand wave the past one and a half months. This team had no business losing to some of the teams they have and they’ve been playing close to .500. There are valid critisims to be made and even Joe has acknowledged they’re not playing that well.
I think some frustration in the last month is justified, but I never expected us to have a record against lower teams like what we had last year. There’s not gonna be the same hunger and focus midseason after winning it, that’s human nature.
I still genuinely believe, come playoff time, we’re in a tier with Cleveland and OKC only, and that’s not a bad place to be.
Steph is the only player that I absolutely love and makes me wake up in a cold sweat at the same time
I will be worried only if we play like ass during first round of playoffs. We have a target in our backs, we have injuries and yet we are second in East and third in NBA.
Team can play better ? Ofc but we are not on Philly mode
When the biggest and most supportive advocate for your team is the Golden State Warriors instead of the “fans.”
Steph keeping it real as always. Defending a title is never easy, but the team is showing up strong at 30-13. Thanks for sharing this insight!
10-7 over the next 17 and we hit that 40-20
Expectations shouldn’t have changed since the being of the season. Get to the playoffs fully healthy. End the season strong so we have some momentum. That’s it. I don’t even care what seed we are.
I think people just have forgotten the end goal and have been listening to talking heads too much as the season has gone on.
I know, right? I keep thinking “Am I crazy, or did everyone agree that this was a fine place to be at this point in the season.”
I mean, look at the Mavs… and they don’t have one in their belt.
My bad
We’re good bro. Coasting and staying healthy. It’s boring for us fans but its natural. We’ll turn it up at the end of the year and playoffs.
So is there any reason at all I should watch any games for the next three months? If they’re going to treat the regular season as relatively meaningless, why shouldn’t I?
The sad reality is we are facing the post championship downfall. We, I thought so, had the talent to be better than that. Just means that the playoffs are going to be much more like 22-23 than 23-24. No guaranteed ring for a team that costs 300-400 million is an impossible pill for any owner to swallow.
What is this guaranteed ring you speak of?
bro thinks such a thing exists.
2016-2017, 2023-2024
He’s right and I don’t expect the Celtics to win a championship this year but I do expect them to play better ball on a consistent basis… The mental errors worry me. Teams are hunting them every night they’re playing a playoff game against teams every night at least in the other teams mind. I don’t think we’re dealing with that as well as we expected but we’re doing pretty good overall by record. Waaay too many mental mistakes though
What’s with the warriors propaganda on here? First Kerr, now Curry. I don’t give a f what anyone from that team or organization thinks.
People are trying to add perspective to the season. Since you know, half this sub seems to think this team is in free fall when this happens to most defending champions.
Yeah this is why its kinda hard to gauge things til the playoffs actually arrive. Simply put, the reg season will never hit the same for these guys ever again because theyve already experienced the payoff.
Itll take some real stakes to really motivate them like a playoff series, imo.
Because they are the last ones to go back to back so their perspective is pretty interesting.
Because they are the last team to win back to back, it’s a diffent perception from what we think because they actually won back to back titles
I’ll upvote that all day.
